Five-bedroom villa on one floor with private pool, air conditioning, heating, WiFi and large-screen TV with UK channels.  Sleeps 10-12.  Non-smoking.

Montes de Alvor is a quiet community of premium villas and town houses 2.5km from the engaging fishing village of Alvor.  

The villa has a private, heated salt-water pool surrounded by a large partly-covered terrace and deck complete with outdoor kitchen, traditional “churrasco” barbeque and professional-standard fitness equipment.  There is on-site parking for multiple vehicles within the villa’s secure perimeter.  

For golf enthusiasts, the championship course at Penina and Henry Cotton’s last masterpiece, Alto Golf, are both 5 minutes’ drive away. Alvor’s long sandy beach is also 5 minutes by car.  For thrill-seekers, the Algarve’s premier skydive centre is just 10 minutes’ walk away, at Portimão Municipal Aerodrome. For those interested in gentler pursuits, Alvor Bowls Club is less than 5 minutes' walk from the villa. 

There are twice-daily scheduled flights from Portimão Municipal aerodrome to Cascais (for Lisbon) and cities further north.

Several restaurants are within easy walking distance of the villa and there are many more in Alvor itself. 

Montes de Alvor has a mini-market stocking all of the essentials and there are multiple shops, mini-markets and supermarkets in Alvor and Portimão. 

Alvor also has a municipal sports complex with indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, skate-boarding and hydrotherapy baths.

Conditions

Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds, odd nights pro-rata.  Electricity, gas, water and welcome-pack included, security deposit required. Air conditioning is included from 1 July to 15 Septemter 2018; outside these dates there is an additional cost of £100 per week.  Pool heating is included from 15 September to 31 October 2018; outside of these dates there is an additional cost of £100 per week. There is also an additional cost of £100 for a preheat week if noone is using the villa or requesting pool heating during the week before the start of your holiday.

Full payment details on request.  Linen change and clean at the end of each week of your stay.  Additional maid service can be arranged at extra cost.

Security

The villa has an enclosed, walled perimeter with access via key-operated pedestrian and remote-controlled vehicle gates.  Note: keys & remote controls must be surrendered on departure, failing which a charge will be made for replacement.

Changeover Day

Flexible - in general, arrival after 3pm, departure by10am. Meet and greet by owners.

Beach

Alvor beach is a 5-minute drive and there are many others within 10-15 minutes’ drive, including the huge Meia Praia near Lagos and Praia da Rocha’s manicured expanse.  Alvor beach is backed by an extensive wooden boardwalk, ideal for strolling and bird watching with many species to be seen.

Golf

Alto Golf and the championship course at Penina are 5 minutes by car.  Other courses (Morgado, Boa Vista, Silves, etc.) are within easy reach.

Distance to shops

The mini-market in the village is an easy few minutes’ walk.

Larger supermarkets are available in Alvor, which also has many small grocery stores and other shops.  There are multiple shopping malls in Portimão, all with free parking

Distance to Restaurants

There are several restaurants and snack bars within a few minutes’ walk of the villa and around 135 others in Alvor.

Transportation

A car is useful in Montes de Alvor and many visitors hire a car from Faro airport, which is 72km from the villa (about 45 minutes' drive via the A22 motorway).

There are also several car-hire outlets in Alvor from which a car can be hired just for the days required, usually at lower rates than at the airport.  This option also avoids the hassle of queuing for a car at the airport and returning it on departure.

Multiple options are also available for taxi/minibus transfers from the airport.

Montes de Alvor is served by buses to Alvor and Portimão and is also on the main route into Alvor itself.

Traditional taxis are available on call 24 hours per day.  Uber also operates an excellent (and cheaper) service in the area.

Directions from Faro airport

On leaving the airport go straight along the dual carriageway for about 1.5Km, then take the exit (on your right!) sign-posted A22 Lisboa/Albufeira/Portimão. You will then join another dual carriageway through a commercial area.  After about 3Km keep left, following signs A22 Portimão. Carry on for another 2Km and take an exit to the right signposted A22 Portimao/Lisboa. You are now on the A22 motorway heading West.  Stay on this motorway for approximately 30 minutes and exit at junction 4 for Alvor.

Follow signs to Alvor and continue past Portimão Municipal Airport (on the right).  Follow the road around a left-hand bend and look out for Restaurant Mula Cheia on the left after about 200m.  Turn left at Mula Cheia (signed to Pedregais) and then take the first road on the right (after 300m).  The villa is on the right after about 100 metres, distinguishable by large grey gates.
