Ria de Alvor- (Alvor Estuary)

Beach description- Sand, few pebbles

Water depth-Shallow

Weather-predominately warm up to November. Despite the warm weather a wet suit is necessary.

Reasons to visit- Aside from the sun and beautiful backdrop, the wind is consistent and the conditions are generally perfectly flat for kitesurfing. The river mouth offers flat to choppy water. The shallow waters are also ideal for beginners.

Restrictions: In winter during rainy patches the wind can vary from 15 to 30 knots.

Praia de Alvor

Wind direction and Strength: Summer NW, side to onshore, wind consistently starts blowing at 2pm. 18-25 knots

Beach description: Soft white sand, clean and clear water

Water depth: Gradually deeper

Reasons to visit: 5 Km of beautiful white sandy and sparsley populated beach, situated next to a traditional fishing village. It is also the choice of the PKRA kite surfing championship in July which reflects the desirability of the location.
