VEM bus service in and around AlvorThere is an excellent bus service running from Alvor. Tickets purchased on the bus. Tickets valid  for one hour on all VEM buses so able to hop from one bus to the other with same ticket. Tickets are a standard 1.40 euros. It is possible to get a VEM card from the bus station in Portimao which reduces the fare by half.
No. 10 bus tavels between Alvor and Portimao terminal
No. 8 bus travels between Alvor and the retail park via Alvor beach
No. 7 bus travels between Alvor and Portimao terminal via Praia do Vau
All the above buses do a circular route between 07:00 - 20:00 Monday - Friday
every half hour and hourly on Saturdays after 14:00 and on Sunday and Bank Holidays
Travel from Alvor to Lagos are with buses called EVA. The fare to Lagos is 4 euros
There are several buses travelling to Lisbon from Alvor each day.
The railway station is a short journey out of Portimao and can be reached by bus No. 5 from Portimao terminal
Trains travelling to Lisbon leave from Portimao railway station changing at Tunes. Fares are a very reasonable 18.50 Euros 2nd class or 24.50 1st class.
There is also a great coach service to Spain, perfect for spending a couple of days exploring the beautiful Spanish towns. This is the most advisable way of travelling between the two countries as there are no direct trains. To find out more about travel between Algarve and spain Click here.
